CMS Enviro Systems have won the VIBES (Vision in Business for the Environment) award for Best Management Medium Category (between 50 and 250 employees) at the event held in Holy Rood, where other winners included Robert Wiseman Dairies, William Tracey Ltd and Stagecoach. CMS Enviro Systems won the award after demonstating financial viability and cost savings through their environmentally sustainable products and practices, including recycling, which has led the company to securing business for the next four years.
Andrew Kerr, managing director of CMS Enviro Systems, said: "It's great to win such an important and prestigious award. At CMS Enviro Systems our environmental and recycling initiatives are central to our business. To be able to demonstrate that it's possible to provide cost-effective, profitable and sustainable solutions within our industry is an achievement we are very proud of."
The VIBES Awards recognise and reward the efforts of businesses that use environmental improvements to become more efficient and competitive whilst benefiting their bottom-line and their employees. The awards are in partnership with Scottish Environment Protection Agency, Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise, Environmental Protection UK, Envirowise and NetRegs.
Presenting the awards, Minister for Environment Roseanna Cunningham said: "Many Scottish businesses, including those recognised at the VIBES Awards, are becoming increasingly aware that tackling their environmental impact can also deliver major economic benefits - both through cutting costs and attracting new business."
By winning a VIBES award, finalists are eligible to enter the European Business Awards for the Environment 2012, which attract around 200 entries per year from the cream of Europe's most environmentally positive businesses. VIBES is the only award scheme in Scotland that feeds into these prestigious European awards.
