CMS Enviro Systems secure Fife Council Tender worth £7M

Fife Council has appointed CMS Enviro Systems to a £7M 3-year window and door replacement and recycling contract after their successful European tender bid. The 3-year contract will see CMS Enviro Systems supply energy efficient 'A' rated 100% lead, barium and cadmium free PVCu windows to over 2,500 council properties throughout the Kingdom. The scope of the tender also incorporates the recycling of all extracted windows and doors from the replacement programme, helping Fife Council to achieve their community objectives and avoid unnecessary waste to landfill. The project forms part of Fife Council's Scottish Housing Quality Standard investment programme.

Fife Council - one of Scotland's largest Council's are leading the way with sustainable design and construction practices in the UK. The capital investment programme gave Fife the opportunity to review their traditional 'C' rated window specification. After significant research into the European window industry they combined key energy efficiency, climatic, and environmental requirements to create a ground-breaking specification offering major fuel savings, reduced CO2 emissions, zero waste, environmentally friendly pvc and windows that are lighter and stronger than before.

CMS Enviro Systems met and exceeded the tender requirements with their BFRC 'A' rated Envirowindow. This system is fully reinforced with Thermlock FP, a lead free pvc box channel which is half the weight of traditional steel reinforcements. This innovation offers greater thermal efficiency and safer manual handling. Fife Council has taken a genuine whole-life approach to costing with there window specification and beyond the obvious environmental benefits, recognise the payback to tenants of installing A rated windows with a guaranteed 35year life expectancy.

Fife Council are the first in Scotland to specify 'A' rated lead free windows on a window replacement contract and they hope that other Councils, national house builders and housing associations follow their lead in raising the bar on window quality in the UK. In addition to supplying the windows and doors and recycling existing installations, CMS are bringing a number of other services to the contract including a round-the-clock emergency response, mobile presentation unit; web based tracking technology and asset management System.

This latest success for CMS follows their appointment to a City of Edinburgh Council 4-year European framework agreement, for the supply and installation of 100% lead, barium and cadmium free PVCu windows to thousands of Council owned properties throughout the city. Both the Edinburgh and Fife contracts will see CMS Enviro Systems supply to much of the domestic housing stock in East Central Scotland.
